conservativetribune.com

Conservative Tribune makes the following claim: [David Boreanaz] broke ranks with the Hollywood elite, and the overwhelming culture of Hollywood, to criticize Pres. Barack Obama. This is the same Pres. Obama that hangs out with celebrities like Jay-Z, BeyoncĂ©, and George Clooney, while simultaneously campaigning against rich people. It’s customary to embed tweets when you’re relying on them to push…

madworldnews.com

UPDATE 01/31/2017: Categorizing madworldnews.com as “Real” never felt quite right with us. At the time of the initial review, we had a binary grading system: either a site was real, or it was satire. Mad World News didn’t quite sit comfortably in that either-or system. Where do we place highly opinionated commentary sites that commented on real news? But now…

allenbwest.com

allenbwest.com is ‘real’ for the sake of our purposes here, meaning, it’s not satirical. Fond of citing the New York Post, another in the Murdoch sensationalist crop, it’s more an anti-Obama mouthpiece than anything else. This was the article that was submitted to us: http://allenbwest.com/2014/07/abject-disdain-military-troops-get-pink-slips-combat/ Basically, it’s blasting Obama for firing over 100 military personnel, including some generals. But the…

conservapedia.com

It’s hard to categorize this one. Conservapedia is a wiki-encyclopedia project with an extremely far-Right agenda/slant. Their goal is to counter the “liberal bias” of the media in general and Wikipedia specifically. So it’s hard to consider it “real news” because of it. Though it’s definitely not satire. One of the interesting editorial requirements (or requests) from Conservapedia is that…

foxnews.com

While they may be biased much of the time (because they are), Fox News is considered a real, legitimate news source. You’re advised to take every news article shared from their site with a grain of salt and try and find additional sources for the same story — preferably one that doesn’t cite Fox News.

rawstory.com

By their own admission: Raw Story is a progressive news site that focuses on stories often ignored in the mainstream media. While giving coverage to the big stories of the day, we also bring our readers’ attention to policy, politics, legal and human rights stories that get ignored in an infotainment culture driven solely by pageviews. Their original reporting has…

newrepublic.com

The New Republic is a liberal magazine that’s been around since 1914.

It is legit, although colored to the Left.

We have our problems with the New Republic though. Read onward:

nydailynews.com

NY Daily News does contain a lot of clearly marked op-ed pieces. And they definitely lean towards one end of the political spectrum. They can, however, be considered real. Be sure to check the originating section of the article before resharing or determining any truth-value. Addendum 11-22-2016: Since this post, we’ve updated our review system to include the categories ClickBait,…
