When speaking about their book, How to Win at Feminism: The Definitive Guide to Having It All—And Then Some!, authors Beth Newell & Sarah Pappalardo spoke candidly about the Reductress website:
Beth Newell: Reductress is a satirical women’s magazine. We created the Reductress website to parody the way the media talks down to women, but the site has also become a vehicle for jokes about women’s day-to-day experiences as well.
Sarah Pappalardo: We started Reductress as a way to satirize a lot of the media we were inundated with as teenagers and as adults, and to create a space for the kind of comedy we wanted to make and include more women in that process.
They have funny articles, such as 4 Foreboding Omens Who Are Trying to Mansplain My Death to Me, that have an edge sometimes missing in satire.
