While not ‘satire,’ per se, World News Daily Report follows the old-school Tabloid-styled faux-journalism of its predecessors, such as the Weekly World News. As such, you will find disclaimers neither revealing its satirical nature nor reveling in its journalistic integrity. It’s just for entertainment purposes, so they rely on the sheer audacity of the topics covered to be its built-in disclaimer.

If you wish to believe that Apple Annouces[sic] Release of Paranormal Communication Application or that a New Gandhi Movie Shocks India, then fill your boots.

But kindly leave our boots well and dry, thank you very much.

This article was not funny at all!
    MH131 is a KL-ACK route, not paris.
World News Daily should find other things to joke about, this affects peoples’ lives, the national carrier’s reputation and the country’s economy. Not cool.

  • MikeH

I don’t get it. It’s not funny, it’s just annoying. Am I missing something? Are they just raking some ad revenue by fooling old people?

    • B.C. Batty

of course they are. same way US Weekly or People have been for years.

    • vbscript2

Unfortunately, they seem to trip up some young people, too. But, yes, they make ad revenue by posting outrageous nonsense in hopes that very gullible people will share links to it that will go viral and drive traffic to their site. Lots of times, sites like that also post ridiculous stuff that people of certain political persuasions would be more likely to believe because people seem more willing to suspend disbelief in order to believe something ridiculous about people with whom they disagree politically. For example, the same sort of people who were duped by Harry Reid stating on the Senate floor, without any evidence whatsoever and contrary to all evidence, that Mitt Romney had not been paying taxes. Of course, these people exist in all political persuasions; that’s just a notable example.

  • Virginia Abreu de Paula

Exactly Mikeh. Satire was supposed to be funny. What they are about are not funny and with no respect at all.

  • TByte

They exist solely to drive gullible people to their sites as click bait.
I don’t understand why they have not been sued for slander a dozen times already.

  • Roger Epps

They got some friends of mine all hyped up thinking they had found giant bones. I don’t dispute the Bible and if it says there were giants then I guess there were – But so far NO giant skeletons have been found that could be verified as giant human bones – or any other verifiable evidence of giants humans in the past

  • James Beckham

The only satire here is this article. You lost any credibility you may have had by calling this a satire site. It is news, REAL news! You just don’t like that fact.

    • Shhelb

      LOL!!! Um….no.

    • Terrymac

Yeah, “real” news on planet Tralfamadore!

  • dancha

If you look long enough you’ll find a real disclaimer too. “All characters appearing in the articles in this website – even those based on real people – are entirely fictional and any resemblance between them and any persons, living, dead, or undead is purely a miracle.”

    • Suki49

What I read had no such disclaimer.

      • dancha
        • Suki49

Yes, I’m sure there is a disclaimer somewhere, but it was not included with the article that accompanied a post on Facebook. I searched for one, and it was not there.

          • dancha

True. It happens often that someone takes a satirical article on a satirical site and shares it on Facebook, as if it were real. Sometimes people expect it to be obvious that it’s satire, and other times they are too happy to accept the worst about people and ideologies for which they have contempt. Once in a while you’ll see satire republished in some sort of journalistic venue as if it were real. It’s always a good idea to check the _original_ source when something seems over the top.

          • Suki49

Actually, it does not seem over the top. Not at all. ****

If this is satire they should make it plain, since this is how disinformation enters the mainstream. There is already far too much of that coming from Republicans.

  • Nickoli Hubris Mastro

Actually, they website has a disclaimer in the About Us section that says:

“WNDR assumes however all responsibility for the satirical nature of its
articles and for the fictional nature of their content. All characters
appearing in the articles in this website – even those based on real
people – are entirely fictional and any resemblance between them and
any persons, living, dead, or undead is purely a miracle.”

  • Suki49

If this is supposed to be satire, the people who published it need to go to satire school and find out how to do REAL satire. The fact is, killing a horse for engaging in “homosexual” activity is not over the top for those crazies. I see videos of their insanity. I agree with Mike H. It is just annoying. There is too much real cruelty that we have to endure, without people making some up and thinking that it is somehow clever or amusing.

    • vbscript2

It’s not supposed to be satire. It’s supposed to be clickbait under the guise of satire, used to drive traffic to their site in order to generate ad revenue. There’s nothing funny about it. It’s just a way to trick gullible people into generating revenue for them.
